Being Emo on the swing |
Hello, all!
It's been a while, I know, but it's been really busy up here lately and this blog isn't at the top of my list of things to do ;P
So! I have clients now! It felt like it took forever for all of the students to find out what we were getting ourselves into...but I think three weeks ago now (WOW time flies) we got our clinic assignments. I have six kids! SIX! It was a big shocker at first, but I'm starting to take it in stride. Things are really different working with that many, compared to the other girls who have one or two at the maximum, but I feel like I'm getting a really great experience. I'm learning quite a bit and having a great time, generally, and that's all I can ask for!
Typical |
Two weekends ago, my boyfriend Andy came up to BG for the Black Swamp Arts Festival, one of my favorite weekends of the year. Basically four or five blocks of Main st. shuts down to automobile traffic, and tons of art vendors set up tents to display and sell their artwork! I am a bit of a closet artist nowadays, so I really love getting out and seeing what people are creating while I'm spending all of my time (or at least what feels like all of my time) working :) Anyway, we had a great time! We had to stop by the BEST music store around, Finders, where (as usual) Andy found 5 record albums that he wanted. I swear, the boy comes up here primarily to see me, but he absolutely LOVES that store, and would probably come up to visit it even if I weren't here
I learned that for some unknown reason, playing on playgrounds with your boyfriend or girlfriend is ridiculously fun. We had way too much fun one of the days that weekend, we even came up with an obstacle course! Silly us.
I also discovered that my oven is possessed by a demon. I swear, when I bake things, it only takes half the time at around 50-100 degrees cooler than packaging designates. It's taken many inedible, charred pizzas for me to really understand the demon, but now I think I have a handle on him.
I've also discovered that my smoke alarms don't really approve of my baking anything. Whenever I bake or open the oven, they go off. Usually that causes me to sprint through my tiny apartment and rip them down, only to sprint back in order to take the nearly-burnt-but-generally-still-quite-tasty thing out of my oven to eat. It gets irritating really quickly. But oh well.
Last weekend, my good friend Steph came and visited me! After four years of never coming up to BG, she finally made the trip! We went to see "the Help" (don't even get me started on how amazing that movie is...JUST GO SEE IT!) and then spent the day at the Toledo Zoo! It was great...we also got some great hooping pictures! Here are a few of the memorable ones...
Anyway, we had a great time. We dyed our hair and drank cheap wine, and ended up going back to that playground so that Steph could try her hand at the obstacle course! Video is in the making and will be uploaded to my Youtube sometime soon. We had a blast!
The zoo was great. I expected something bigger, because that's what I'm used to...the Columbus zoo is huge. But the animals were so cool! There was a baby elephant and a baby giraffe! And there were horny turtles and attempted giraffe rape, so overall the day didn't disappoint.
Since then, I've been mostly working on schoolwork that I couldn't do while the friends were visiting me. It's no problem though, I've been able to stay on top of just about everything, thank goodness.
Well, I ought to make some dinner so I can get back to work...talk to you later!
